Phillies Defeat Angels to Claim 2011 Championship Trophy Tuesday, September 20, 2011: The Phillies and Angels split a double header on Sunday, leaving the three game championship series tied at one game apiece. The Phillies started the day with a convincing win in game 1, and then took a three run lead in the first inning of the second game. But the Angels mounted an impressive comeback, holding the Phillies to only one run in the last two innings, to tie the series at one game apiece. Rain on Monday delayed the final game until Tuesday. After two innings the game was tied at 8 runs apiece, but then the Phillies began to build a lead until the Angels were no longer able to close the gap.
